Brooke's aunt is typically eccentric and inappropriate, as reflected in her eclectic wardrobe. She is the last of the Dalton line, tracing back to Max Dalton, one of the town founders. She claims to know where the treasure of the "Queen Bella's Revenge" is buried, but no one seems to want to listen.
The oldest of the Gilman daughters, Brooke has become something of a local sports celebrity as the star scorer for the local team, the Dandie Dinmonts. She is cheerful, outgoing, and generous, sometimes to a fault. Her relationship with her father, Johnstone, has been strained since the death of her mother, Laurie Lee. Recently she invited her aunt, Molly, to come and live with them... a decision she may come to regret, and one her husband already has.
Typically, Brimmy is a quiet and shy cat, often not seen for long periods. However, he perks up when Brock is around.
Was once a local news channel celebrity, until he quit his job to write the next great novel. He is well-known and liked throughout the area. Brady isn't so thrilled with his wife's aunt, Molly, moving in with them, but he is trying to make the best of it.
Brock seems to have gotten the best from each of his parents. He stars on several of his school's sports teams and recently won a junior fishing tournament. He is the spitting image of his dad, other than his hair, which is clearly his mother's.
Zachariah is a charismatic, if mysterious, old man. He is from out of town, although no one seems to know exactly where. He is rich as well, but no one seems to know how he accumulated his wealth. His current project has been to find a husband for his only daughter, Eleanor. As she is quite eccentric, to put it nicely, it has proven to be quite a task.
"Weird, and not in a good way", would be an accurate description of Eleanor. She is seen as neurotic, nervous, and simply not very nice. However she is lonely, something her father is doing his best to help cure. He would say she really isn't that bad, just a little rough around the edges. Some might say she is a bit more than "a little" rough.
A many times great-grandson of Samuel Gilman, Johnstone is a savvy businessman. He made his first fortune via a textile venture. That business eventually sold to out of town interests. Afterwards, he and Xavier Angel went into the publishing business, which is still going strong today. He recently passed day to day control of the company to his son, Vincent, and has taken up an interest in local politics.
Unlike his conservative father, Vincent is quite progressive and open to nearly any idea. There are some who fear the pressures of a new business to run, along with his new wife and daughter, will be too much for him. Can he balance being a tycoon and a family man as his father before him?
A daughter of Vincent and Catherine. While still young, she is already quite the charmer.
This old yellow dog was known as Squirrel Bane in his younger days...back when the town had squirrels.
Newly married to Vincent, Catherine is an aspiring musician. She also has a reputation as the town flirt. This infuriates her new father-in-law to no end, but doesn't seem to bother her husband in the least.
Jo is Jackson Rattlebag's niece. He still insists she is his little girl, even as she takes over as sheriff for the town. One of her first duties will be look into the recent break-in attempts at the maritime museum.
Pennington is the one constant in the family. No matter what else happens, Pennington will be there begging for food (if not outright stealing it!), getting into the trash, and chasing what one can only assume must be invisible pink elephants.
Everything has to be perfect for Andrew - his closet, his house, his job, his wife, and his children. This doesn't work for his son, Andy, who seems to want to do nothing but play games on his computer.
Carla shows enormous promise as a child. Still only in elementary school, she is already completing mathematical induction proofs. On top of that, she is as cute as a button!
Andy spends all his free time on the computer playing Planet of Simcraft. His parents wish he would get out and make friends and just don't understand him.
A Certified genius, at least when it comes to science, if not relationships. This her second marriage and she is determined to make it work.
Eron is the grandson of Mario Angel, who served with Samuel Gilman aboard the Hawthorn when the town was first settled. Finding work as a deputy, he, his new wife, and her teenage daughter from a previous marriage look forward to beginning their new family. That is, if Eron can adapt to his wife's aptly named cat, Apocalypse, who is both hyper and destructive. Fortunately for the cat's sake, he is also devastatingly cute. Eron also is a second cousin of Fryda Wolff, though neither are aware of it.
