I ask because I just bought the Nindie Bundle. So if I claim the games on one Wii U, can I download them again later on a different Wii U if I use the same Nintendo Network ID? Help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys/gals!
Your digital downloads are tied to (and require) your NNID, which is then tied to the console you created your NNID on. So, it's an account based ... which is still tied to the console.
It's possible for you to delink and transfer your content from one console to another. Nintendo says so right here, under Nintendo Network Services Agreement.
The Network Services may permit you to transfer some or all of your data, information, account balances, and Digital Content between Nintendo Devices that you own, or between your Network Accounts. Please refer to the User Manual for more information on this feature.
It's convoluted. You won't be stuck without your games unless you sell your Wii U without asking Nintendo to delink your NNID from the console first, though I think you'd need to have another Wii U to link it to -- I'm not 100% sure though.
