I enjoyed the review, but couldn't help but feel a bit sad and nostalgic for what video gaming used to be. At the same time I can't argue with any of Jeff's points about the relevance of reviews in 2021. I already know I'm playing Halo Infinite, no reviews needed. Also, the last paragraph is art.
I don't know why, maybe it's the 2D aspect of it, but I have a hard time seeing Metroid Dread as a $60 game. It's looks to be of a similar quality as an XBLA from 10 or 12 years ago, like Shadow Complex or something. I know that sounds harsh, but I don't mean it to be. It looks fun, but just really simple. Hopefully there's more depth and replayability than what they've shown so far.
