Mobile Suit Gundam: Lost War Chronicles is one of many games based on Mobile Suit Gundam's One Year War era. In essence, it is a sequel to the PlayStation 2's first Gundam game, Journey to Jaburo; aside from slightly better control, LWC's core gameplay is nearly identical to that of its predecessor.

Nearly every "simulation" Gundam game that followed (such as the Gundam Battle PSP games and Battlefield Record UC 0081) is based on the mechanics of Lost War Chronicles.

    Gameplay

Lost War Chronicles allows the player to choose between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. Each side has fourteen missions to complete. Each mission sees the player and two wingmen battling the enemy and performing other tasks, such as escorting an ally out of the battlefield or destroying a critical target.

After each mission, the player's gameplay is evaluated by his/her allies through a series of cutscenes. Depending on how well the player is evaluated, extra features are unlocked (for example, if the player avoids taking damage throughout several missions, the team's mechanic will enhance each machine's armor). Occasionally, famous Gundam characters such as Amuro Ray, Christina Mackenzie, and Gihren Zabi make cameo appearances.
