Kierkegaard is the name of the leader of a religious sect of robots in Nier: Automata that is separate from both the main enemy force in the game and Pascal's pacifist commune. They take up refuge in the Factory Zone a bit later in the game.

The goal of Kierkegaard's religious cult is to "Become as Gods" which they hope to achieve by killing themselves. In the case of all the life-forms of Nier: Automata "Gods" can be read as humanity because humanity has risen to the stature of godhood for many of the robots that still inhabit the Earth that had been long abandoned by them.

Kierkegaard's name is in reference to real life religious philosopher Soren Kierkegaard.
