Heaths death deafantley hyped the movie, but what i here from friends is that its an awesome movie.
Dark Knight Yay or Nay?
Definitely Yay.
I've seen it twice, and I don't think it's possible to deny the strength of the film, in terms of artistic direction, acting, writing, and mood.
Granted, I think there is a bit of overhype due to the death of Heath Ledger, but that being said those who have seen the film have to agree
that his portrayal of the Joker was perfect. His performance will be the benchmark in which all Joker performances are judged by.
Also, the backstories of the villains are changed to better suit the style of Nolan's film, but the execution is so good that comic book purists shouldn't
complain; it does the source material proud.
Its a great movie, though in all honesty, not to diminish the strength and power of Ledger's performance if he wins the Oscar it will simply be because he should have won it for brokeback, didn't and now he is dead. It is a fantastic performance don't get me wrong but is it truly Oscar worthy? I am not convinced - that being said my opinion doesn't really matter and he'll probably win it anyway.
Christopher Nolan has set himself an extremely difficult task in following this movie and an even more difficult task for the poor sod who'll be chosen to carry on the franchise when Nolan says "No More"
I expected it to be over hyped....but after seeing the movie...it definitely is one that deserves that hype. That's a Yay! by the way.
It's a great movie, and all the hype for Heath is true and deserved. It's the best Joker ever created, and the closest we'll ever get to a Killing Joke movie. I did have to stop for a minute and tell myself that it IS a comic book movie, though. I went in buying the hype that it's one of the best films ever created, so I really had to sit back and judge it by its own merits. So, going by that standard, it probably is the best comic book movie ever made. I really only had two gripes by the time the movie was over:
A. Maggie Gyllenhaal as Katie. The Katie character was sort of annoying in the first place, but I can buy and tolerate Katie Holmes as being sort of snobby and undecided. Maggie, on the other hand, didn't pull it off at all. She just seemed annoying and nothing but a tool to add to Batman's more human side. She showed almost no emotion going between two men in the movie.
B. Bale's "Batman voice." He sounded like Nathan Explosion.
my new no.1
i wouldn't be surprised if it takes best director and picture.
and would heath ledger be nominated for leading actor or supporting. as the joker was the movie.
the fact that it is still owning the box office goes to show that its hyped because it is good, not because of Ledger.
yay....for real man, have even read reviews, go to imdb.com or rottentomatoes, or meta critic. it had a lot of hype and buzz, but it exceded expectation and totally surprised me.
The Dark Knight was awesome. So enjoyable from start to finish. But i wished it had been a little shorter.
