"One thing im curious about is if there going to issue refunds of some sort for Themes and Pictures packs, seeing how we cant use them anymore (Im assuming)You'll be able to keep your themes in the new dashboard. Major Nelson had a thingy on his blog about what it would look like.

New Xbox 360 Dashboard, Like it or Loath it?
"i loath it. i know i know my name is blue, but i have a 360 also so dont be a hater.I disagree. With so much new content coming on every day over Live, it was often difficult and hard to find some content. This new dashboard seems to eliminate that problem. Plus, it shuts people up about the fact that XBL costs money, as a movement has been growing to make the service free. One common complaint is that they weren't getting their money's worth due to a lack of innovation.ei just think it looks too much like Apple's Front Row, and PS3's XMB. its window's media center slapped on a gaming console. there was no NEED for this either."
"bekern said:Well I guess that's good to know, but I'll still miss the blades. It seemed like every platform had their own original dashboard thing but now Microsoft is trying to be like the other guys or something."I hate it :( I always liked the blades, they just needed to be reorganized IMO. This one looked soulless and boring... hopefully they will at least let us use our themes from the blades or that would suck for all the people who paid for them.Yeah, you can use your old themes in the new DB, and they look a lot better now!

Major Nelson posted some pics showing the themes in action, and they actually look a little better than they do now. Here's the link.

*EDIT* Whoops! Should of read the rest of the posts!
I love it although it does take many things from the XMB interface and (of course) Mii's. But Its for the best.
Also, I heard on the Major Nelson Podcast that people don't have to use the Avatars, they can simply use one of their gamerpics to represent themselves in group parties or in the Dashboard.
I like it, but I wonder if this change will effect Microsoft's plans to take some games off of XBLA. Visually, I think it's a lot better, but I wonder what functional problems it's going to solve, or if it's just going to create new ones.
Universal parties is kick ass, now they just need a universal matchmaking for all games.
Avatars look kinda lame though.
The whole Netflix thing is a great addition. However, I think the new dash is just Microsoft trying to be Nintendo, which totally alienates the people who actually have an XBOX 360 now. I guess I'll have to get used to it. I just wish I could keep my Harvey Dent gamer picture. :(
I dont really care what it looks like or does, but im hoping for a dramatic technical improvement over the current. Its always felt as if the machine cant handle opening the dash during a game.
I hate the avatars, I don't want one of those staring at me when I turn on my console. I don't mind the redesign though.
I think I am just going to have to really sit down and experience it. The explanation of it and some footage of the interface isn't giving me enough to go off of and give a real good opinion on. Once I have a chance to really interact with it and have something tangible at my fingertips I will be able to have a better handle on the overall impact of the new design.
What's so good is that if you don't like the new interface you can just switch back to the old one.
