Why is it that Cookie Dough is so much better than Cookies?

Ok, so the other day I was bored and thought it would be fun to make some good 'ol home-made cookies. So got a recipe from the interwebz and got blending. After finishing the cookie go I tasted it, and it was addicting! I ended up never making cookies and instead slowly eating the bowl of cookie dough over the next few days. Is it the fact that our mothers always discouraged us from eating raw cookie dough that makes it so appealing?

So Giantbomb, I ask you this - Why is Cookie Dough so much better than Cookies?

Depends on your opinion. I prefer cookies

Normal cookies get dry after a while and then you have to dip them in milk. Cookie dough is already all gooey.

You feel much more fatter, which is a guilty pleasure for everyone. Don't lie.

thats true i like cookie dough better, even rice crispy dough is better than the hardened rice crispies

i dunno raw eggs can be pretty gnarly id rather just create some cookies, the sense of achievement is overwhelming :D

I actually prefer cookies.

Probably just because some people enjoy the texture and "mushiness" of dough rather than a crunchy cookie.

A hot, gooey chocolate chip cookie beats cookie dough hands down, but cookie dough beats a day old cookie for sure.

So this is what people do when they don't have video games...hmmm. Well cookie dough is nice but no one in my family has the patience to bake so we always buy our cookies ready to go.

Cookie dough is dangerous to eat, due to the raw eggs. It is tasty though.

The same could be said about cake mix. How many of you as kids begged to lick the spoon after mom was making a birthday cake?

I don't know about you, put I prefer cookies over cookie dough. But the brownie mix is good (after you mix it together with the other ingredients). Had some last night while making brownies. Good times. :)

Achievement makes everything taste sour, however if no effort at all is put into something it will taste better...

Same reason strawberries are better when smaller: there's more stuff that makes flavor (sugar, salt, fat) in a little doughball than a bigger baked cookie.

wow this thread is old... 😅 but then again, the question of cookies never gets old, but for me, I've never tried cookie dough...

and @undeadpool really? strawberries are better when smaller? I didn't know that, though I've always liked jams including strawberry jam. 🍓

Under-baked cookies eaten fresh from the oven are the best.
